Dream To Become Reality!

Plans are in the pipeline to build a new state of the art educational cancer treatment centre somewhere in the newly-formed Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust area, which serves the people of Basingstoke, Andover and Winchester.  The centre will include a much needed radiotherapy facility, as well as offering chemotherapy, palliative care, core therapies and complimentary therapies to patients.

Merv Rees, the new Trust’s Divisional Medical Director, was the man who led a dedicated fundraising team to build his vision of a centre for education at Basingstoke, and just 2 years later the money was raised and The Ark was born!

This time Mr Rees and the Clinical Director for Cancer Services, Dr Lara Alloway, have their sights set on the new cancer treatment centre  costs look to be split equally between the Trust and fundraising/donations so public support will be vital.  Their fundraising officially starts in September and RadCan pledges to do all it can to help raise £1 million to support this wonderful scheme.

Since its inception to raise awareness of the need for a local radiotherapy facility and raise money in the hope of providing one, RadCan has learned first-hand how generous and supportive local people and the business community are, and is certain that by working together in this cause we can make the new cancer treatment centre a reality at last.
